Investment Positions

Investment positions can be found in the investment account's Overview View and in the Investment Portfolio View. The investment account's Overview View shows that account's positions for securities purchased from that account (stocks, bonds, options, etc.). The Investment Portfolio View shows positions for securities purchased from all accounts (stocks, bonds, options, etc.). The positions are broken down with several useful measurements of performance available. In the position tables you can Control click the table to display the table's contextual menu with selections for setting the optional columns and column sorting. You also have the option to hide or show closed positions. In the "Portfolio" you have the ability to pull up "Info" views that show more data about the position's underlying security. Also, in the "Portfolio" you can check out graphs of the prices of the underlying securities over time for stocks, mutual funds, options, and other securities when available.

***Note: SEE Finance creates the your investment positions based on the transactions found in your investment accounts. If you are missing the relevant investment buy/sell transactions, you will be missing components of your positions and may need to create these missing transactions or enter Shares In/Out investment transactions to take the place of any missing transactions.

***Note: Investment positions are created from the investment transactions entered into accounts. Investment transactions are matched by the symbols set in the transactions in order to create positions (for bonds the symbol or the CUSIP or a combination of the bond's variables). Stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, options and other security types are matched just using the symbol set for the transactions. Bonds and CDs are matched using the bond symbol or CUSIP set for these transactions or if the symbol or CUSIP is not available a combination of the bond's info (bond issuer type, coupon rate, coupon frequency, par value, issue date and maturity date). If there is not symbol information available for a security and/or you just don't want this security to be updated during investment quote downloads you can set the transactions for the desired security to have an unique symbol not listed on an exchange such as "MySecurity1".***

***Note: Bond market prices are expected to be percentage of par values. Bond market prices in the program can also be based on the common present value (PV) of a bond formula if the Investment Preferences for "Use PV of a Bond Formula for Bond Quotes" is turned on. In order for the PV of a bond calculation to be accurate the bond transactions must be setup with the relevant bond specific information (bond issuer type, coupon rate, coupon frequency, par value, issue date and maturity date).
